Just when you thought we had run out of holidays

...along comes National Doughnut Day, the first Friday in June.

I am not even kidding.

You can read all about doughnuts here.

That’s it for today’s post. Short and sweet.

  1. Not much nutritional value in donuts, unless of course you're in need of carbs.

Though they're useful for the aphorism: the optimist sees the donut; the pessimist sees the hole.

  2. Elisabeth, hello! I don't think of myself as an optimist or a pessimist, more of a contrarian. When the whole world is advocating A, I consider the merits of B. Although, all in all, I think it's better to be a pessimist, because an optimist is constantly being disappointed but a pessimist is pleasantly surprised occasionally.

  4. In England we sometimes use the term "doughnut" to describe a dumb person so I guess George W. Bush will be the figurehead of your National Doughnut Day.

  5. I think cinnamon doughnuts are the best food to come out of America !! Love them with a cappacino for a morning tea treat. Any day to honour the doughnut gets my vote !!!
    Cheers
